I'm glad we exist.

I love this little comic. The pastels are gentle like the breeze. The dusky purple adds a somber edge. The big anime eyes are there to perceive and feel. The flowers are there to be admired and cared for. It's lovely.

As someone who has experienced intense pressure to be grateful for cruelties as part of a gaslight effect, I struggle with the word “gratitude” itself.

But I understand the feeling of wonder that I get to exist at the same time as many other people and things.

In high school, I used to say to myself, “Everything is precious simply because it exists.” Later, I abbreviated this to the word “simbecit,” which became my word for gratitude.

I don't think everything is worthy of that level of reverence anymore, but I spend lots of time focusing on things that are.

This artwork gives me a strong feeling of simbecit. It's inspiring.
